Can I permanently leave the state (CO) with my young child to live near and with my family in a different state after divorce?

Can I be forced to stay in CO? Have not filed for divorce yet but plan to. I haven't worked since the birth of our child 2 years ago. I have no friends or family in CO where we live. All my family are out of state. We agreed and planned to move to be near my family, but now he doesn't want to go. He is controlling and verbally and emotionally abusive.

I would recommend that you review this request with a family law attorney who has litigated several parental requests to relocate with young children.  There is not a simply answer to your questions and a court would or would not permit the children to relocate with you, if you choose to move out of the state.
