Act quickly and do not wait for certainty. If your loved one lives at home, call Adult Protective Services at 1-833-401-0832. If they live in a nursing home or assisted living facility, call the Long-Term Care Ombudsman CRISISline at 1-800-231-4024. You can also contact the police and your loved one's bank, since financial institutions are required to report suspected abuse. Keep bank statements, estate planning documents, emails, and texts. These claims generally must be filed within four years of discovery.
