Answer

Whether a family member is entitled to notice depends on whether they are an interested person in an estate as defined by Florida law. That determination is affected by degree of closeness to the decedent and whether there is a will and/or trust. If a person is reasonably affected by the outcome of the estate, that person can appear in the estate case to receive notice and look into the administration of the estate by the personal representative.
