I was in a car accident. I need to know if I should hire a lawyer.

My wife and I were hit by a car who ran a red light. We both took an ambulance to the hospital, and after some CT scans and bloodwork, no serious injuries were prevalent. We are both battered and bruised, and have soreness and whiplash today (the day after). My car was towed and it is unclear to me if it will be totaled or not. The airbags did deploy, we were hit very hard.

I am sorry to hear what happened to you.  It must have been very frightening for you.  Given the circumstances of the collision, you have a right for the adverse driver's insurance company to pay for the cost of repair or the payment of the value of your car and an amount for the days that you are without your car.  You don't mention whether you are continuing to have physical problems from the collision but you should consider at a minimum getting some follow up care to determine if you do have ongoing problems from the accident.  You have a right to obtain compensation, the amount of which is based on the extent of your injuries and damages.  You should consult with an attorney.  Best of luck to you.
