I was involved in an accident over 1yr ago and I was at fault and now I am dealing with her insurance. What should I do?
Asked in McDonough, GA on December 10, 2025 Last answered on March 5, 2026I understand I was at fault…I didn’t have insurance at the time, but now if I don’t pay the insurance company, they will take it to litigation or suspend my license. I don’t know how to handle this or how the case would go.

If you were at fault you need to call your insurance company they will defend you and pay any money on your behalf. You won’t have to pay anything.
If you did not have auto insurance at the time of the collision then unfortunately you will have to find a way to personally pay for any damages caused by the collision you caused.
Recommend you speak to an attorney who is versed in defending auto accident claims. The insurance company may seek reimbursement or subrogation against you. Also, the other driver may sue you.
Let their insurance know you did not have insurance at the time of the wreck. Very often if you do not have insurance the other driver will not pursue an action against you personally. If they do file a lawsuit against you, you should definitely consult with an attorney.
If you have significant assets, you may want to consult with a bankruptcy attorney. Unfortunately, some personal injuries are not protected in bankruptcy.
