My present attorney for car accident is not up to par. How do I respectfully, honorably and peacefully drop him for another?
Asked in Columbia, SC on January 5, 2026 Last answered on June 19, 2026No contact for almost 60 days. "I can't tell you what to do about your healthcare" from paralegal. No medical lien or other to cover healthcare from the accident. My job essentially went away while I've been out under doctors orders. I'm stuck. Please advise on what I can do.

I would contact your attorney and ask him/her what you need to do to end the relationship. They should be able to provide you with guidance.
If you believe your current lawyer is not representing your best interest, it is important to schedule a meeting to discuss this with him/her. You can also terminate the attorney-client relationship at any time for any reason.
Your file belongs to you; you always have the right to terminate your relationship with your attorney and request a copy of your file. That said, it might be worth trying to schedule an in-person meeting with your attorney to see if you can get on the same page before you change horses.
