I did not file a police report for a car crash. Can you file one later when the other peoples' report comes out false?

If officers didn't respond to the scene, drivers involved in a crash with injury, death, or more than $1,000 in property damage are required to submit a driver's crash report (form CR-2) to TxDOT within 10 days. If you missed that window, you can typically still file a late report; it just may not carry the same weight as one filed on time.

If the other driver already filed a report and you believe it's inaccurate, you generally can't get the police to simply delete or rewrite their conclusions on your say-so — but you can go to the department that took the report and submit your own supplemental statement or request that your version be added to the file. Report narratives aren't the final word on fault anyway; insurance adjusters and courts weigh them alongside other evidence.
