If a debt-resolution firm fails to file paperwork, resulting in xtra fees, do I have a malpractice case against them?
Asked in Fair Lawn, NJ | November 24, 2025A debt resolution firm (CLG) was hired to manage my debt. They recommended that I destroy my credit and not pay the fees until a summons against me from a plaintiff collector appears. In the meantime, they charge $400/month for over two years, resulting in me paying them about 13K. I'm finally served papers for summons. According to the agreement, I am to scan/upload any and every paperwork received to them so that they can handle it for me. I promptly upload my served papers to them, hoping they file the appropriate paperwork. They did not. In fact, when my wife called, the clerk admitted to her (and later, to me, via phone) that the attorney in charge of my case left the company, and no one took over their case load, resulting in them NOT filing any kind of form when the summons paperwork appeared. Now I have a Default Judgment for the plaintiff, a debt-collections law firm. While CLG apologized, the only thing they're offering is a refund. They will not disclose the following factors, however: -when that refund would get issued -how much of an amount would get issued Do I qualify for a Malpractice case?

My son is 15 years old and wants to come live with me. How do I go about doing this?
Asked in Toms River, NJ | January 6, 2026I live in SC, and my son, with permission from a NJ judge, lived with me for 7 years. His father then filed for custody, and they granted it to him and moved my son to NJ. My son is very unhappy, and it has been horrible for years. I did absolutely nothing wrong to have my son taken away. My son acts one way with me (his true self) and completely differently with his father (he has learned how to survive). I pay child support. My son wants to come home to his family and me, his grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. What are my options?
