I tripped over a unsafe ramp installed for my dad. He has fallen on it, and I tripped and messed up my knee. Can I sue?
Asked in Dallas, TX on July 5, 2026 Last answered on July 28, 2026The ramp that they installed for my dad is not up to code. It was very poorly done. It does not have guardrails, is very small, and barely even fits his wheelchair. The person he used to make it does not have any certifications or any licenses. He was not qualified to make this ramp.

Potentially. Property owners have a duty to maintain reasonably safe premises or warn visitors of dangerous conditions they know about or should know about. Whether you have a claim depends on factors such as who installed the ramp, whether it was unreasonably dangerous, whether the owner knew of the hazard, and what caused your fall. An attorney can review the facts and advise you of your rights.
