Not sure if my conditions qualify for SSDI. How do I find out? Where do I begin?
Asked in Olyphant, PA | March 16, 2026Had major surgery in 12/24. Went back to work in 4/2025 but only lasted 3 mos. Ended up quitting after 10 yrs of service. Was unable to adjust to new life changes. They removed my bladder, appendix, fallopian tubes, colon, and 2 ft of intestines. They created a fake bladder out of my intestines and used my other body parts to create a canal where I catheterize through a stoma (hole) in my stomach. Most bathrooms are not equipped for my needs, and there is also the privacy issue. I developed some sort of PTSD after the surgery and am currently in therapy for severe depression. I am unable to adapt. I have had other complications since the surgery. I am now seeing a gastro doctor for bowel issues. I either developed some sort of IBD, or because of having less intestines, my body cannot control my bowel movements like it used to. My problem is that I waited a year before I started seeing other doctors for these issues because I wanted to give my body enough time to heal after having such major surgery. So I have no paper trail until recently. I tried a job working from home, but wasn't even able to do that.
