If you have business insurance, send your insurer a copy of the petition.  If you do not, you need to file an answer in the lawsuit.  If you were sued as an individual, you can represent yourself if you cannot afford a lawyer.  if you can afford a lawyer, hire one that handles consumer lawsuits.  If you were sued as a business entity, you cannot represent yourself, unless the claim is in Justice of the Peace court.

I highly recommend you consult with an attorney to review your contracts and agreements with your clients, as a strongly worded and defensible limitation of liability, indemnity, waiver and release type provisions can protect you moving forward. Regarding this specific instance, if your client does proceed with litigation, reach out to an attorney who can assess the claims and your available defenses (and possible counterclaims) together.
