$50k business partnership dispute in NY. Business closed without notice; concerns about accounting and fund handling. What are my legal rights?
Asked in New York, NYI invested $50,000 as a business partner in a small jewelry store based in New York's Upper East Side. The business operated through both a physical retail store and online sales channels, including livestream and website sales. Over time, I was not kept informed about major business decisions. I recently learned that the physical store had been shut down and the company was closed, but I was never formally notified during this process. I have also not been provided with any financial statements, bank records, accounting reports, or a clear breakdown regarding how company funds, expenses, inventory, and remaining assets were handled.
The managing partner recently informed me the business incurred significant losses and is currently undergoing tax/accounting cleanup with a CPA. However, I have concerns regarding a lack of financial transparency, whether all business revenue (including online sales) was properly accounted for, and whether I have legal rights as a business partner to request full accounting and review how funds and assets were managed before and during the company shutdown process.

I am a 70 yrs. old woman who gave $30,000 for a business without signing any papers. Have I been scammed?
Asked in Denver, NCI was told that I would be paid monthly to repay myself and make a profit. I was supposed to be included in every aspect of the business, including meeting her bookkeeper and her lawyer. It's been 5 months, and I have not seen any money. The only proof I have is that my name was on the money order I gave to the previous owner, and I have a receipt for that.

My ex employees are stealing my clients and getting into my social media and Excel, getting all my clients' information
Asked in El Paso, TXI had to fire a couple of employees because I noticed they were planning on leaving me and stealing all my clientele. They took pictures of all my binders and everything. After they left, they were knocking door by door to all my clients and offering them the “same service” for less money. I don’t know how, but they got into my social media and Google Documents, and they are still getting my clients. I’m about to close my shop because of it.

Myself and others have been scammed by a software development company. What type of lawyer would help with this?
Asked in Sugar Land, TXThe company is headquartered, registered in Texas, but after being scammed, you find that mostly all of them are overseas. Everyone who has dealt with them has the same experiences: contract breach, no final delivery on the product, and no further contact from the company after spending thousands. The latest person they scammed is from 3 weeks ago, and judging by reviews, it looks like everyone has been submitting complaints to Texas Attorney General and FTC.
