My attorney misguided me and I missed filing for alimoney prior to divorce filing. Can I file now?
Asked in Charlotte, NC on April 23, 2026 Last answered on May 6, 2026My attorney misguided me and didn't include alimony. He also missed the date. I came to know that because the divorce is done now, I can't file for alimony. Is there any way I can file for alimony now?

No, alimony is waived upon entry of the divorce judgment if a claim for alimony is not pending at the time the divorce is entered. This is pursuant to NCGS 50-11
