Contact an attorney right away and provide them with the evidence you have, including the police report, photos of your injuries, and any medical records from treatment related to the accident.
Typically when you are hit by a vehicle by riding your bicycle, and the collision was the fault of the driver of the vehicle, you would have a potential injury claim against the driver of the vehicle who hit you. If they have no insurance coverage, there would likely be coverage under any auto insurance policy that covers you. If you do not have an auto policy, you may still be covered if any relatives you live with have an auto policy under a policy provision called "resident relative coverage".
Note, if you were hit by a police officer, or you have legal claims against the police, those may be subject to a shorter statute of limitations, often a 1-year statute of limitations, instead of the more common 2-year statute of limitations in Illinois.
Good luck to you!
