I am selling a rental house to my renters. What kind of contract do I need to complete this transaction?

I bought the house 17 years ago for my daughter to live in. She has had a family living with her for the past 10 years. That family now wants to buy the house. We are not using a real estate agent. What type of contract do I need to use and how do I go about getting it?

Answer

Typically, you would use a purchase agreement following by a closing (i.e. deed) when selling a property.  If you are using seller financing, you can use a contract for deed.
