I moved in 2023. A few weeks later I notice the front entrance door to my apartment didn't lock.
Asked in Seattle, WA | March 26, 2026The door was apparently kicked in for medical reasons for the prior tenants. However, the door frame is split, so the deadbolt doesn't lock. I never thought it was a problem until my house was broken into. I went to housing for help and the VA. I told them I was afraid to sleep after the break-in. I put a lock on the door to feel somewhat safe when I come home. Installed alarm. I sleep with a bar at the door. I am being hospitalized for ptsd from this with the VA. They still haven't fixed the issue. Now they are possibly going to try to evict me. What can I do?
