double jaw surgery 3 weeks ago for asymmetry and FFS procedure that went completely wrong.
Asked in San Francisco, CA | February 5, 2026Trans woman, aged 30, was in perfect health but had asymmetry that caused the inability to chew on one side of the jaw, bite and teeth were aligned properly (had braces during youth.) The double jaw surgery was to correct asymmetry on the face and to allow the other jaw to work, and some FFS procedure was done as well. Outcome was catastrophic, the condyle not seated properly on one side, especially causing an open bite and now causing muscle spasms. Since the condyle is not seated properly, bite is off and two molars are touching resulting in the inability to close the mouth, drooling constantly and causing speech impediment. Airway narrowed, having sleep apena. Surgeon did a bad slit and fractured the bone on the left side. Post-op, Saw three separate Medical Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons, 2/3 believed that even the upper jaw was set wrongly as well as the chin position. One surgeon advised not to do the revision with this doctor as the case has become complicated and the original surgeon might not be qualified to fix the problem. It is causing a lot of emotional stress where new surgeon proposes a wait of 6 mos. for full healing before revision .

I am in the middle of a medical malpractice lawsuit for a botched eye surgery. My current counsel withdrew. What are my options?
Asked in San Diego, CA | December 30, 2025I had botched eye surgery and full repair surgery from a new surgeon. My current attorney withdrew without my knowledge because they didn't want to hire an expert witness and the corrective surgeon refused to write a letter of negligence against the first surgeon due to them being friends.
