I'm working in Minnesota and I've been facing discrimination because of my sexual orientation.
Asked in Minneapolis, MN | November 22, 2024Everything was normal when I was hired. However, about two months into working, I let it slip out that I have a wife (we are both women). Since then, my coworkers have been treating me differently. I'm worried about my rights and what protections I have.

Are demand letters effective to force a settlement with your previous employer?
Asked in Floral Park, NY | April 6, 2026I am a former Financial Consultant with approximately 19 years at a regional bank, where I generated roughly $400,000 in annual production and earned in the range of $120,000+ at my peak. The key issue is not a typical customer dispute. The product and program were approved, structured, and supervised by the bank. I relied on that system in good faith. There are serious concerns regarding supervision, including involvement of individuals who may not have been properly licensed, and a broader failure of oversight at the institutional level. As a result, I now have multiple disclosures tied to a single product/program, which has effectively ended my ability to continue in the industry. I left my position in July 2025 and am evaluating my legal options to pursue damages related to loss of career, reputational harm, and negligent supervision.

My employer has pushed my start date several months. Are there actions I can take or compensation I am owed?
Asked in Columbia, MD | February 17, 2026I accepted a job offer last December from a defense subcontractor, which would place me on a team at a different defense company. After filling out and signing the initial paperwork and onboarding, I received an email with information regarding my start date of early March; however, 2 weeks before the aforementioned start date, I received another email saying the start date had been pushed back to June. They reasoned that the company I'm being placed in has not completed a DD254 for the project, which would allow subcontractors to work on it. This is a three-month difference and would negatively affect me financially, mainly since I relocated for this position. Am I entitled to any compensation, or are there actions I can take to adjudicate this delay?
