I am the defendant on a 50B, I have evidence. What do i do?
Asked in Asheville, NCI am the defendant on a 50B , I went to court hearing on march 26th, but the plaintiff decided to leave during lunch hours. I have evidence of her texting me after she filed the restraining order, saying she’s sorry for hurting me. And on the incident date, she indicated that I hit her, which I did not. I have evidence of dates and times of when she put her hands on me that same night.

If my rights to my child were terminated by a state and I feel they were done so illegally, how can I find out?
Asked in Cherryville, NCMy rights were terminated so sge could be adopted. I wasn't aware of this and was not notified. My daughter contacted me through some friends and wants to come live with me. I don't believe the state made any effort or followed the SOP to locate or inform me. They admitted in open court they dud not publicly announce it. Since she was adopted she was returned to the state for foster care. The court told me they could do nothing. I took a DNA test and am positively the biological father. The court said they added me to the birth certificate as the father but I don't have any rights to her.
Since the courts and DSS have allowed me supervised visits, I drive 6 hours one way to visit her 2x a month for a few hours each visit. I drove 4 hours one way to be in court for her reviews and petition for custody 9 trips in total. I own my own home. I have a bedroom for her and am financially able to support her. She is 17 now and I feel her and my rights may have been violated.

A hospital ran a spinal tap test on me before taking urine.
Asked in Charlotte, NCI had sepsis from failure of my kidney and liver, the first hospital I went to not knowing I had sepsis. They took me to a room and before taking any urine test, they ran a spinal tap thinking I had Meningitis, as in, I did have a headache and neck pain. As that test came back negative, from what I remember, they might've run a blood test, but still no urine test. They couldn't figure out what was wrong with me and got me admitted to the hospital. Once I got into the wheelchair to get admitted in the second hospital, they then took a urine test. Once I was admitted, my doctor told us they had no test results back from the first hospital. Once they ran my urine test you could instantly tell there was something wrong with my kidneys. This happened in November 2025, as I am a minor (17 years old), 18 in a few months. My doctor recommended that I take legal action, not just for my sake and my recovery, but for the sake of one little "mistake" like that, which almost cost me my life.

We are parents of a one year old trying to protect her from toxic grandparent relationships. What can we do in advance?
Asked in Asheville, NCWe live about 3 hours from grandparents. They have never respected our boundaries with our lives and that of our daughter. We want to have a pleasant holiday interaction (or none at all) and want to get ahead of things with a legal document, maybe, that all parties would sign and agree to in terms of presents, visitation(s), rules for our child, etc. We have ample reason to not trust either set of grandparents and the past toxicity is insane. We don’t want any trouble this year or damage to our child. Thanks!
