Myself and others have been scammed by a software development company. What type of lawyer would help with this?
Asked in Sugar Land, TX | December 4, 2025The company is headquartered, registered in Texas, but after being scammed, you find that mostly all of them are overseas. Everyone who has dealt with them has the same experiences: contract breach, no final delivery on the product, and no further contact from the company after spending thousands. The latest person they scammed is from 3 weeks ago, and judging by reviews, it looks like everyone has been submitting complaints to Texas Attorney General and FTC.

Can an employeer decide to pay sick days without notifing employee which is on workers comp. leave?
Asked in Marble Falls, TX | February 11, 2026I have suffered a Traumatic brain injury from a fall at work in icy conditions on a concrete parking lot on 01/28/2026. The Corporate Safety Director told Sharon that it was a significant other while I was in the ICU. This was not a workers' compensation claim, and I would use the AD&D policy, which only pays $50,000.00.

Does a Texas LLC need an attorney for a Burnet County JP appeal/bench trial?
Asked in Burnet, TX | May 27, 2026I own an LLC in Texas. The company won a JP/small claims case involving a residential gutter installation dispute, but the plaintiff appealed to the county court in Burnet County, Texas. The case is now set for a bench trial, and the plaintiff has hired an attorney. The work at issue was done before I became the current owner of the company. I need to know: Can a Texas LLC appear in county court through its owner, or must it be represented by a licensed Texas attorney? If the plaintiff appeals from the JP court, is the county court trial a de novo trial? What are the most urgent first steps before the bench trial? Should we consider filing a counterclaim for unpaid invoice, breach of contract, attorney’s fees, or another claim if the company has damages? Should we request a continuance if we need time to hire counsel or tender the claim to our insurance carrier? Does my status as the new owner help protect me personally if I was not the owner when the work was performed? The claim amount is approximately $15,000, so I am trying to keep legal costs under control while still protecting the LLC.

Asked in Dallas, TX | December 10, 2025My father was cremated without my consent or knowledge. His roommate authorized this. From my understanding in Arkansas, the funeral home is responsible for obtaining proper authorization. Yes, they knew my father had children. I live 4 miles from the funeral home. They never tried to contact me regarding this. What attorney do I need?
