During a parking dispute, I struck the other party’s vehicle once with hand. What criminal charges apply?
Asked in Los Angeles, CA | August 3, 2026I received a Riverside County Sheriff’s card with a case number after a parking lot incident. During the incident, I slapped the other vehicle once with my open hand, but I did not intend to cause any damage and am not aware of any damage. I would like legal advice regarding my rights and any potential immigration consequences before contacting the Sheriff’s Office.

Arrested, no notice of charges stated. Door forced open, illegal search&seizures. New charges at first court appearance.
Asked in Phelan, CA | May 27, 2026Awoke to my door being forced open by the cops with guns drawn and ordered out, I followed commands given and didn't resist the entire time, then I was immediately put in handcuffs. I asked what was going on multiple times and was ignored, then placed in the back of the police car. I later learned during the first court appearance that the officers then proceeded to go back and begin to illegally and without my consent or a search warrant, started to search my property and seize items. During the ride to booking, I repeatedly asked what I was being arrested for, but the officer would not reply or inform me of the charges. I wasn't told anything during booking until I was given the booking document and read the charges myself.

Ex-friend sent message to college alumni org claiming I committed multiple sexual assaults. Claims are false. What do I do to address this?
Asked in Los Angeles, CA | January 26, 2026An ex-friend libeled me a few months ago. She wrote messages on Facebook to the university alumni board claiming I sexually assaulted someone out of state and also someone at a party she hosted 10 years ago. These claims are 100% false. Due to her false claims and the drama it caused I had to step down from the board to deal with this. I have the screenshots that she sent on Facebook. I also made a copy of our last correspondence as friends years back, also via Facebook messages. In the film industry, in this age of #metoo, allegations of sexual assault can ruin someone’s career. Even if it didn’t happen. Her false accusations have caused me a lot of stress as well as distractions daily. Also stepping down from he board has hurt my film career. It has limited my networking opportunities. Daily this causes me stress on how to handle this. I’m not very productive at my day job and my insomnia returned. Best way to file Cease and Desist and not lose a lot of money with this?

I am age 67, neighbors in 20s, I was physically attacked by them. Does this constitute elder abuse?
Asked in Sunnyvale, CA | November 23, 2025Was physically atttacked by neighbors (husb & wife) when wife struck me with fists, we fell to ground, husb jerked me up off of wife and slammed me to ground then called police, while on phone wife again hit me in head with fist, I went to hosp was diagnosed with concussion. Police arrived, took statements and no further action. This happened on my rental property, I informed prop mgr, no action taken.. Happened 1+ year ago and neighbors are severely harassing me again when for the second time, have and currently are using their vehicle to block me in carport parking space. Last time I reported to police after being blocked in for 4 days and police stated that they could not assist because it was private property, need to contact prop mgr. Contacted prop mgr who failed to resolve. What may be my legal options? I am a US Army veteran, I receive subsidized housing assistance but I'm very afraid to notify my housing authority without knowing what my legal options may be!
