We are parents of a one year old trying to protect her from toxic grandparent relationships. What can we do in advance?
Asked in Asheville, NC | November 25, 2025We live about 3 hours from grandparents. They have never respected our boundaries with our lives and that of our daughter. We want to have a pleasant holiday interaction (or none at all) and want to get ahead of things with a legal document, maybe, that all parties would sign and agree to in terms of presents, visitation(s), rules for our child, etc. We have ample reason to not trust either set of grandparents and the past toxicity is insane. We don’t want any trouble this year or damage to our child. Thanks!

How to terminate parental rights due to abandonment?
Asked in San Jose, CA | July 23, 2026I have no rights as my stepson's mother. His mother abandoned him when he was 10 months old due to substance abuse/addiction, multiple incarcerations, and starting a relationship with my husband's cousin. She has been released on parole recently and wants her rights to parent even though she has not been around. My son is 12 years old. I need help terminating her rights as a parent.

If I’ve been slandered and lied about and going to court because of it, what do I do?
Asked in Visalia, CA | July 27, 2026I took my daughter's cell phone away and went to the grocery store, came home, and was arrested. I’ve been going to court now for almost 4 years. I’ve gone to family court and now criminal court. They took my daughter away. My daughter completely lied, and I have a lot of information in proof, and nobody will do anything for me to help me through this, but more than that, my rights have been violated at least 1000 times through this whole process. This is ridiculous, and I don’t know what to do.
